Tips for solvers
- Use pencil marks: write every candidate in small digits.
- Look for "naked pairs": two cells in a unit with the same two candidates, which removes those digits from the rest of the unit.

These keep about 26 of 81 digits. The fewest givens any valid 9×9 sudoku can have is 17, proved by McGuire, Tugemann and Civario in 2012.
